Did you like it?
I did enjoy reading it. Wake was written in a very interesting and slightly unexpected style for me. I put off reading it (even though I very much wanted to) because most stores were charging $8 for it and the size of the print with the amount of pages just didn't seem like it was worth it, and after reading the novel, i still stand by that. Good thing I got it for free. Parts of the novel seemed to have to reason or rhyme for why point A led to point C, but other than that, it was an enjoyable read. I'd give it a 4/6.
What's it about?
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant..
She gets in other peoples dreams, she can't control it, there's a lot of mystery surrounding her "gift" and it seems like it's going to be explained and honed better in the next few novels of the series, which I'm hoping to get my hands on soon.
